January 21  Discussion of MLK non-violence and civil disobedience documents from the King Center. We will also watch a video produced by the PBS News Hour on the Poor People’s Campaign which was conceived by MLK in 1968 and has gained momentum in the last several years.

February 18  A discussion of Gandhi and other peacemakers who saw non-violent resistance as a mechanism for change and greater equality.

March 18   Civility—what is it and can we accomplish it?  A discussion of the idea of civility in human interactions.

April 15  Discussion of the idea of Restorative Justice as Howard Zehr describes in his book, Changing Lenses:  Restorative Justice for Our Times.

May 20  Compassion-12 steps---Review of the Charter for Compassion as it relates to living a more compassionate life.

June 17  3 Practices—Dr. Helen Rose Ebaugh describes the technique for having meaningful conversations based on listening for understanding not agreement. Dr. Ebaugh will lead the group in a practice of this technique.
